Very nice time yesterday. (The con's still going on, if you want to go over there for a few hours, but I need more sleep.)
  • Got together with the ever-wonderful Sarah Zettel for a business lunch(!)
  • got lots of hugs from nice folks like Sally and Shay
  • cleared up a misunderstanding on scheduling
  • had a pretty good set which seemed way too short for me (and in too small a room)
  • tested the new Zoom H4 (I'll be going over that audio later today)
  • got up to the party for Steve MacDonald and his lovely wife Katy (yay!)
  • freaked out that Steve's son Lucas has got so frickin' tall
  • spent some lovely time talking politics with Rene & Carol Gobeyn, Mark Bernstein, and Tara Barber, among others
  • had cake
  • went downstairs to Shula's for dinner, very nice steak soup
  • hung out in the hallway for awhile, talking with Matt and Pam and Gail and Shalla and Pat and Jennifer and Mark Peters and Mike and all kindsa good folks
  • went to the open sing after Steve's concert
  • hung out for about an hour, determined I really really really had to get home before I fell over
  • enjoyed a lovely and dear friend belly-dancing for me in the lobby before I left
  • got home much faster than I thought I would
All in all, a very pleasant time, mostly spent singing and talking with friends, which is really what I go to cons for these days.

How's your weekend workin' out?

Quiet. Peaceful. All of Toronto went to Detroit. :-)

Actually, I'm having a good time with a book called "The Song Writing Sourcebook" (by Rikky Rooksby). In spite of the title, I'm thinking this may be the book on harmony that I've always wanted. I read books on classical harmony theory years ago that left me saying, "OK, I understand, but now what?" This one works on the basis of: pick up your guitar, play this sequence, listen. I'm about 25% in and happy.

Glad to hear you had a good time...I was out at a Jonny Lang concert last night, having a blast (who says bluesmen can't rock?!), and pretty soon I'm heading over to my dad's to watch the Colts-Patriots game. GO COLTS!

My son and I are looking forward to seeing you next week at Clifton in Louisville for Wolf's party. He has been quoting and singing your work at random here and there. He will make some rhyming statement and I will say "that's Tom Smith right?" and he will say yes and grin.

Oh, man, I wish I could have gone. Instead I moved more stuff out of my storage facility and into my house, and moved Mirage Press stock to the folks who are selling it online for me.

Steve has friends over, and we're waiting for their parental units to pick them up (they don't have a history of follow-thru, but I'm tired of being their chauffeur) and I'm working on the mountain of laundry. If I can find some essential elements, I'm going to sew some purses and tote bags this afternoon.

It may snow here but not much.

I'm recuperating from a minor ailment, so I decided this would be a good weekend to take things easy and do only what I want. So I've mostly been napping, knitting and playing a new RPG my sweetie gave me last weekend. Not very social (hm, have I actually seen any other human beings since Friday?), but quite restorative.

Much sleep. Didn't mean to nap this afternoon too, but evidently I needed it because there I was for more than two hours. Must go feed mom & dad's cat; it would be much easier if it wasn't so cold out there.

Yesterday I drove an hour and a half to a meeting that was rescheduled but nobody told me. Today I went to take care of tigers, and due to bad weather, we did everything super fast and then cleared out and closed early. I hardly got to see the animals at all. So mostly, I've been driving moderately long distances for what turns out to be no reason.

I had a great weekend... other than the fact that I had no voice for half of the weekend and I fell asleep and missed your concert... *pout* But other than that I had a great time. And the no voice thing was amusing some of the time too.

*hugs*

Well, I went to a convention and found co-operative performers and had a fine time . . . tho I missed pretty much everything that wasn't on the filk track.

The good: my neices first birthday party over at my parents house. My mother has recovered from the various health problems she had to finally hold her granddaughter without any pain.

The almost-good: still waiting on the job offer so I can review it and sign it so I can get back to work (I know, 8 months is not as long as some people have been out of work, but I still hit the point where being idle was not good for me anymore)

The bad: the Patriots are not going the Super-Bowl

All in all, not a bad weekend.
