Here. Seriously, give it a look -- it really does go to the heart of the real issues. By [livejournal.com profile] bubble_blunder, by way of [livejournal.com profile] dbcooper, by way of [livejournal.com profile] kayshapero.

My, that is one of the most well thought out, level headed response to a rather hot button issue I've ever read.

Regardless of one's thought of the original problem, I think getting these questions answered would benefit all LJ users.

That was my thought. This whole thing has threatened to bury itself in wank, but there are serious problems with the whole situation and LJ/SA's "handling" of it. And this letter cuts right to that.

Call me an asshole ("you're an asshole!"), but the first thing I noticed is that a letter representative of a community of writers and artists was full of bad grammar. A redundancy in the first paragraph physically hurt me.

It may be well thought out and level-headed, but it also meanders, and I feel as though the author was as in love with her writing as she was with WHAT she was writing.

If they want their questions answered, they're going to have to cut the living hell out of their editorial.

It's a draft, and she wants input on it -- if you have specific suggestions/corrections, post'em over there. The core of it is peaceable and solid, and that's what makes it awesome; helping polish it will make it awesome and ready-for-prime-time, as it were.

Yeah, I was thinking about the same thing. It tends to drift into that faux-legalese that people who don't know how to write well tend to use when they're trying way too hard. I'm not going to go over there and turn the power of the Corporate Communications Consultant (one of my gigs in the Big Blue Room) on it now because I have to go to work tomorrow, and it's way late already, but I might come back to it and have at it later...

...assuming I can work up the give-a-shit to do that much revision work for free and on spec, that is.

Excellent link, Tom, thank you for sharing that! I'll be passing the word on it over on my journal too.
