LJ has released Patch 88.2. They seem to have a whole bunch of well-placed tech tickets to deal with, and who knows? Perhaps they'll deal with them. Apparently they will, on some level, restore the subject lines.

We'll see.

I'll have a couple of threads tomorrow which should be fun, including one for Top Chef (which I've finally downloaded tonight).

Dreamwidth has, for the time being, turned off their invite codes. They're also working on a community import feature from LJ to DW. You can sign up here.

If you're reading this on LiveJournal, you know that things have gone just a bit worng.

This morning, our LJ Overlords, in their infinite wisdom, rolled out new functionality for the comments. In doing so, they have pretty much broken comments instead.

No subject lines. No preview (remember that the preview includes spellcheck and HTML check). No selecting icons by drop-down -- you have to pick them from a window where they're loaded in order of the dates they were uploaded. No "thread" option.

I'm already crossposting at DreamWidth. It will take no effort to migrate. I would rather not, but this is silly.

ETA: Okay, I've changed the header color so that user names are legible in comments. Yeesh.

It occurs to me that there are a number of people I haven't seen posting or commenting in months (e.g., [profile] jblaque. Everybody okay out there? Check in and say Hi. We worry.

First time since early yesterday afternoon that I have access to my LJ... and now DreamWidth isn't taking my calls.

That's it. I'm switching to WordPress. Dunno exactly when, but if I get a DDoS on my site, at least I know BlueHost will kick somebody's ass over it.

And how's your internet week going?

We've been having such fun with it, I thought it would be a cool idea to start a new LJ community, [livejournal.com profile] pimpyourstuff. Now the whole family can play!

Wowzah. (You may not recognize the woman, Candy -- Randy's crossing over with Girls With Slingshots.)

... [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily has been suspended. Moderator [livejournal.com profile] schmevil has the skinny.

ETA: A bit of an update from Peter David.

ETA2: There is now a scans_daily group on InsaneJournal. Here's their RSS feed, and here's the LJ version of that feed.

LJ Spam

I just got five comments within the past hour that were obviously completely unrelated to... well, to anything, actually. Users I'd never heard of, with new accounts whose sole posts looked suspiciously like the product of random-word generators. How did Duv Galeni describe Illyan's breakdown...? Twenty perfectly grammatical sentences that made no sense. Yeah.

Anyway, I nuked 'em. And I'll keep nuking 'em, labeling them as spam, and banning the "users". If I accidentally ban a real person, please let me know by e-mail, mmkay? And I'd seriously recommend checking your own recent comments for anything bizarre.

A brand-new community which, among other things, has links to some of the YouTube application vids.

Spurring off from the previous post, who are some of our LJ friends whose stuff we should all be reading? First ones I thought of right away were [livejournal.com profile] andpuff, [livejournal.com profile] maticoquala, [livejournal.com profile] sazettel, [livejournal.com profile] jimhines, and, soon, [livejournal.com profile] seanan_mcguire ([livejournal.com profile] cadhla).

There's a brand-new LJ community for friends and attendees of MarCon, the Memorial Day weekend con in Columbus, OH. If you're interested, go here to join.

Anne turned me on to the group [livejournal.com profile] iconzicons, which, among many other talented folks, features the work of [livejournal.com profile] mrbnatural. In specific, an ongoing series of Choose Your Own Adventure icons. Not particularly safe for work.

What would you like to see as a Choose Your Own Adventure?

Baby Steps

LJ/6A is attempting to clarify their position on non-photographic art.

It's a beginning. I think a screwed-up beginning, because they are so veddy veddy concerned about Teh Evil Child Pr0n, especially the Nonexistent Children Variation. But a beginning nontheless.

Thoughts?

Checking In

This is my very first posting to InsaneJournal, and my very first cross-posting with LJ. I'd been thinking that I hadn't heard from some of my LJ friends in a long time, and it also seems like a good idea to check in with everyone who might be on IJ.

So, if you're seeing this message, either on LJ or IJ, give me a shout out, okay? So I know who's all right here on LJ, and so I know who's with me on IJ.

ETA: I also have an account on JournalFen. All "filkertom".

[livejournal.com profile] dbcooper alerts us to an even stupider than usual LJ/6A statement. [livejournal.com profile] coffeechica is an LJ/6A employee.

I believe I'm going to start cross-posting at InsaneJournal.

LJ/SixApart finally responds.

There are some problems, pointed out most succinctly in this comment.

Here. Seriously, give it a look -- it really does go to the heart of the real issues. By [livejournal.com profile] bubble_blunder, by way of [livejournal.com profile] dbcooper, by way of [livejournal.com profile] kayshapero.
