At Dragon*Con, some young guy from the Carolina Otaku Uprising handed me a DVD-R, saying he hoped I liked it. I did. It was this:

Neat! Scott was just wondering the other day if anybody'd done that. (He's just discovered fan vids and is having a grand time finding them.)

Well, actually I seen a fan vid done for the song using the live-action LoTR, about a year and a half ago. The audience was laughing more at the jokes in the song instead of the jokes created by putting video to the song. That (most recent antecedent) type of funny fan video is much more common.

Seen it at Media*West, (May, 2006) where they have had a big culture of fan created videos for over 20 years. Shown in their film room, pretty much dedicated to these type of fan films. Most are putting rather emotional songs to their fave TV show or series of films.

I like. Never thought of that for video source, but it works.

I should send that to a couple of tolkien fans...

I've been wanting to do "The Last Hero On Earth" with the City of Heroes (http://www.coh.com/) engine.

I'm just not that industrious.

BUT! Maybe if I plant the idea out there...

That is an excellent idea!
So Tom, has anyone done a fan vid for your Dervish tune, using Guild Wars?

No. I won't ask anyone to make a fan video; that's gauche. But I will admit I'd really, really love it if they did. ;)

I admit, I've considered it. Especially With Great Power, which I have about half worked out. I just need to overcome my inertia...

Just for the record, it's Carolina "Otaku" Uprising, as in, a bunch of anime fanboys and fangirls. But we're also quite fond of filk, as evidenced by the crazy musicals we've been putting on at Animazement. Thanks for the link!

Anywhere I could download that? I'm on dialup, and what I get is herky-jerky one second at a time from watching on line.

Never mind - had a rush of brains to the head, double clicked on it, and got it off You Tube. Hilarious!

Hey, that's pretty funny! They did a nice job synching clips with sound. And wow, has it been a long time since I've seen that version of LoTR.
