Wow. This has been a real bright spot to my day. Thanks, Tom. I needed this. I love the casting. Some of my faves:
Jack = Scarface
Dalek = Pony
Humans = Monkey (Cue Doctor saying something about "stupid apes" here.)

And, no Eric Roberts to speak of. The person that made this was a true Who fan. I'm so impressed.

Off the subject but this reminds me... Any thoughts on turning iTom into a FuMP-style podcast? I'm a big fan of your work but I keep forgetting to check your feed for new releases.

I'm at work as well, but judging from the Skullcrusher-evoking title and the still frame - I'm scared. (Not that I won't watch it and probably love it, mind you.)

I'm not that good with faces.

I was astonished to discover that the New Master is the same guy who played Sam Tyler.

Not to mention the interesting juxtaposition of "slick and subtle" against "raging batpoo crazy".

That was beautiful.

I know what you mean. I have quibbles about a number of his songs; I wish in particular he had more non-repetitive choruses. But when he is on, he is on. And he's done at least four songs ("Code Monkey", "Someone Is Crazy", "My Monkey", and "I Feel Fantastic") I wish I'd written.

As a fan, I rather like repetitive choruses. It makes it easier to learn the song. As a writer, I use them because it makes it easier to remember the song... and I'm lazy. :P

"Code Monkey" is a gorram work of genius, yeah. If you'll pardon the pun*, it really strikes a chord.

The others you mentioned, I'm not (yet) familiar with by name. Frak, another musical jones to feed.

I've also noticed that some of the YouTubed videos set to his songs are themselves brilliant. This one you've linked to here is quite well done, and the World of Warcrack machinima set to "Code Monkey" by Spiff really set a bar for video game music videos. He's done one for "Skullcrusher Mountain", though it's not as good as his one for "Code Monkey."

And oh, frell it all, I was hoping to catch and edit this mistake before anyone commented. My apologies to Jonathan Coulton for calling him "Coulter" in my original comment. Hukd awn foniks werkd fer mii.

* Knowing your library, I suspect you shall indeed pardon the puns.

'Salright, we all know who you meant. Have you seen "Speed Monkey (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxLLiTkiOaQ)"? (Those of you who haven't... watch the original "Code Monkey" video [livejournal.com profile] twfarlan links to first. It's not exactly a sequel, but....)

I hadn't seen that, no. Heh, "Code Monkey," the speed metal remix. I'm surprised that worked as well as it did.

"Coulter is so damned talented, it's just disgusting"???

While I admit the word "disgusting" fits into any description of Anne Coulter perfectly, the word talented "talented"...Oh, wait, you meant Coulton. :P

Would the original song count as filk because it has the sci-fi archtype of an evil genius?

Originally I heard of this song through Rob Balder's parody Muppet Labs. Hearing the original version I have to give props to Balder again for the song.

I haven't really heard of John Coulton before now. I knew OF him, just not much. Now when finances permit, I plan on buying the MP3 downloads. If something like this doesn't verify Balder's and Coulton's attitude about giving stuff away for free being a good business plan, I don't know what does.
