Besides ConFluence and Pennsic War, the other Big Big Big thing this weekend is the San Diego Comic Con. (Hi, [profile] partiallyclips and [personal profile] kobold and [profile] philfoglio!) Among the many goodies there is the trailer for the upcoming Marvel direct-to-video feature, Planet Hulk.

Any particular graphic novel or story arc you'd like to see made into an animated movie, or a regular movie? I think that if they try Daredevil again, they should do the Born Again storyline. I also really wish someone would license Matt Wagner's Mage.

If I had to pick anything I think I'd like to see an attempt to bring Cloak and Dagger to the big screen. Those have been some of my favorite characters for a long time.

I'd like to see American Way made into a feature. It's a Wildstorm comic about how superpowers are real but the government runs the superteams like some big theatrical event to keep the public away from events like Vietnam or taking away Civil Liberties, and in the middle of all this comes the first black super hero. NC-17 of course for language.

I'd also like to see Superman: Secret Identities by Kurt Busiek, which is my all time favorite Superman story even though it's not really a super hero comic. In a world much like our own, a boy named Clark Kent actually develops Superman powers. He tries to do right and save the day, but has to deal with falling in love and staying away froma government that wants to try to dissect him. It's a really awesome story, especially since Busiek portrays this as a mainly human aspect of Superman.

Oh, and maybe a documentary set in Astro City would be cool too, cause I love those comics so much. :P I'd have Busiek's babies if possible.

Also there April, [livejournal.com profile] april_art, Diana, [livejournal.com profile] dhstein and Lar [livejournal.com profile] lartist manning their tables and working hard.

Still waiting on someone to do "Death, The High Cost of Living". Would love a proper "Daredevil" movie. And how about "Zot"?

Ambush Bug, but only if they include the inflatable Darkseid. My second choice would be the Giffen run on Justice League.

Yeah, you could say I'm getting tired of grim, dark and angsty superhero movies ;-)

There are two.

I'd like to finally see Elfquest make it to the big screen, animated like the creators intended. (And NOT live-action with children in the roles, as the studios suggested way back when. Gah! If you've ever read the books, you know that's about a zillion types of wrong!!!)

And at the risk of being a bigger shill than [redacted], I will just say that if you think about my life for two seconds, you will know what the other one is.

Oh, but the public outrage about child porn would be priceless, you're no fun. ;) And then people could drag out all the Wolfrider's Reflections songs!

People vilify "comic books" enough. Do we really need to give them more ammunition?

Thanks, now you've got me singing, "I don't wanna go to Pennsic/ and spend a whole fortnight outdoors. I'd rather have hard walls and ceilings/and power and plumbing and floors."

As the only non-SCAdian among my immediate family, I say Amen! to that.

I went once, blowing my ENTIRE 1-week paid vacation, purely to please an ex, who insisted it would be soooo much fun.

When it wasn't pouring, it was ridiculously hot. Plus he ignored me the entire time we were there to go play stick-jock.

There was one party that was fun, but it was way too crowded, and it was late, so I got tired. When packing up to go home (FINALLY!!!) I was amused by the tales of the floods that carried away some of the smaller vehicles that were unfortunately parked in a low-lying area.

So it wasn't all bad, but NEVER again.

And I mean it. Give me indoor plumbing and internet access! And people who don't get all snippy because you are wearing "non-period" shoes.

That would be me.

Who is now realizing he was sitting in a filk circle at Confluence this weekend with two Pennsic-bound bards and completely forgot to sing my anthem. Oops.

But thanks for the shout-out!

Oh I'm not opposed to camping.

I'm opposed to camping when I have to wear too-thin shoes, a skirt and a corset/bodice... and can't pitch my tent in the shade, or go walking in the woods because those are "prime" campgrounds and they're exclusively "reserved" for Grand Exalted Lord High Mucky-Muck the third...

(I've found that a LOT of SCA "Royalty" forgets that they are only PRETENDING to be royalty.)

I'll echo Luke's call for Scud.

I've not been a big comic reader, outside of some recent-ish Transformers stuff from IDW, and the occasional Deadpool comic I see at the bookstore. More Deadpool would be great. Loved him in Hulk vs. Wolverine.

Right now the trailer isn't available for viewing.

I'd like to see Amazing Spider Man arc The Sidekick's Revenge made into a direct to video movie. It's a good story arc, has lots of guest stars, and a little darker than other superhero movies.

Ha! I don't know if I like this idea because it could be totally awesome or because it's really funny to imagine Spider Jerusalem's reaction to a movie about him...

There are so many webcomics I want to see on a big screen. Pick anything. Being a movie buff and a webcomic addict, I think about stuff like this a lot.

Can you imaging what a big screen animated adaption of Kingdom Come could be like? The original mini-series, not any of the sequals. Like with Watchmen, you'd loose some subplots but I think they can get the essense of it done within movie-time-limitations (new generation of super-heroes out of control, the older generation has to step in, and things blow up, literally).

On the one hand, that could indeed be a cool movie.
On the other, audiences would face a pretty high entrance fee, in terms of prior comic book knowledge.
And on the other hand, I worry that no onscreen actors could measure up to Alex Ross' gosh-wow-sense-of-wonder-inspiring art.

I'd also like to see a non-suck movie of Scott McCloud's Zot!

very, very core Wolverine story, that doens't deal with mutant/human politics... so it would be a great change up
