Thanks to Steve Jackson's Daily Illuminator for pointing this one out: a blog from a man who is helping to keep the Internet up in New Orleans. Besides having eyewitness accounts of the tales of survival, the carnage, the looting, the awful circumstances that just get worse every hour... it's an unfolding tale of dedication, courage, and sacrifice as they try to keep the lines of communication open in a devastated city. Really, it's amazing stuff.

Larry Dixon and Mercedes Lackey have set up GryphonKing.com as a clearinghouse for info about helping other fen in the fen, relocation and other assistance for sf/fantasy fans and gamers made homeless by Hurricane Katrina. They say they'll have PayPal donations up soon.

In a similar vein, MoveOn.org has set up Hurricane Housing.
