First: Today, Congress is holding a hearing on Net Neutrality. Tomorrow, Public Knowledge wants people to call their congresscritter and tell them to keep the internet free and wide open. For more info, click on the graphic below.

The Internet Strikes Back

Second: In their wild-eyed zeal to cut everything in the budget that might be helpful to regular people, Congressional Republicans want to eliminate funding to NPR and PBS. Given that 170 million Americans use those resources every month, it may not be a good idea.

Okay, time to lighten up a bit. StumbleUpon led me to Key Chords, a nifty little Flash tool to help you audition chord progressions. Pick a key, drag some chords to the big white space, click Play, and it loops for you. Even if you don't know guitar at all, it's fun.

Unfortunately, there may end up being a mad science war because of my noticing it: one of the other nifty tools on the site is a drummer to practice with, called Drumbot. [profile] doctorpinkerton, please, put DOWN the death ray and step away from the gravity bombs!

(Guitarists who want free drumming software to play along with while avoiding a potential worldwide conflagration might want to try Riffworks T4 instead.)

Any cool music you've heard or written lately? Link 'em up.

Goddammit, I know I'm not perfect in this myself, but I try -- really, I swear I try.

Is it too much to ask of fanfic writers to learn how to punctuate?

I mean, yeah, a lot of them are in their teens. I, and most everyone I know or know of, had learned punctuation by that time. Most of us started learning it about the time we started to read. That would be age three or four or five.

I can live with misspellings. (Although the number of times I see "loose" when the writer means "lose" makes me crazy.) But, holy frijoles, if you're going to present your epic AU, the least you can do is to either make it readable or put it in lolspeak so I have no expectations that you might be literate.

Sorry. Rant off.

So. Read any good fanfic lately?
