Okay, time to lighten up a bit. StumbleUpon led me to Key Chords, a nifty little Flash tool to help you audition chord progressions. Pick a key, drag some chords to the big white space, click Play, and it loops for you. Even if you don't know guitar at all, it's fun.

Unfortunately, there may end up being a mad science war because of my noticing it: one of the other nifty tools on the site is a drummer to practice with, called Drumbot. [profile] doctorpinkerton, please, put DOWN the death ray and step away from the gravity bombs!

(Guitarists who want free drumming software to play along with while avoiding a potential worldwide conflagration might want to try Riffworks T4 instead.)

Any cool music you've heard or written lately? Link 'em up.

Those who want to play with looping music software but don't feel like buying Ableton for a toy, can buy LiveMachine from Prodyon for only 10$. You use it inside any VST player program, but it operates standalone. Fun at parties or just goofing around, which Ableton is far too expensive for.

I love Prodyon's stuff. I got in on one of Dennis's all-our-products-for-life packages, and it's all good.

I've been writing a song every other day for February Album Writing Month (FAWM). My page linking to my songs is here Some of my music is even cool (I think the mixolydian thing is cool, others seem to think "Four Songs a Second" is cool Nobody thinks "Suzie the Three-Legged Prostitute" is cool)

Go to the "songs" link at the top of the page, and you can year a song written (or at least first uploaded) minutes or even just seconds ago, and you can be the first person on Earth (aside from the original musician) to hear something amazingly cool. Or bloody awful. Luck of the draw. It's kind of like a worldwide filk circle!

okay - this isn't exactly an online music tool...BUT

from Mitch Benn's Twitter feed:
ALL COMIC SONGWRITERS - gonna start a comedy song podcast. Send mp3s to mitchbenn@hotmail.com for consideration (and please RT).

Cool, mp3s of comic songs arriving already. I should add you MUST own copyright or have express permission of any co-owners (publisher etc.)

The podcast is to be a platform for new/jobbing comic songwriters, so don't just start sending me your Bonzos rarities...

etc - (you can read the rest of it interspersed here http://twitter.com/#!/MitchBenn )

Latest Tweet:
Lots of submissions for my comic song podcast but ALL from the UK so far. Any N American/Australasian troubes want to join in?

Need a new market, Tom? *evil grin*
