  • This weekend is FenCon in north Dallas, TX. I'm on the schedule for a panel at Friday noon. Sorry, but I will not be at that panel -- I'll still be on the road (it's a long haul). I should make my 5:00 p.m., and my concerts are Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday at noon. On the other hand, Jeff and Maya Bonhoff, Marc Gunn, Margaret Middleton, the Bedlam Bards, and various others should keep you entertained in the meantime. ;)
  • Matt Duhan from Gozer Games has a new game he's trying to get crowdfunded: Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, and Fairies. Art by Phil Foglio and R. K. Milholland. (He's also whipping up a promo video for his previous epic, Zombie Ninja Pirates, and he's specifically using "Trans Poly U Fight Song" and "Pirate Ninjas From Dino Island" for that one, so I'll let you know when it's released into the wild.)
  • [personal profile] seanan_mcguire is still accepting pre-orders for her new album Wicked Girls.
  • DJ Boffles has a show on New Eden Radio (for all your EVE Online internet radio needs). This Sunday at 16:00 GMT (noon EDT, methinks), they'll be broadcasting a special Talk Like A Pirate Day edition, and I know for a fact they'll play my song because they e-mailed and asked if they could.
  • ARRR! Sunday be International Talk Like A Pirate Day! My set list for the Sunday noon concert suddenly be all too clear, ARRR!
  • In case ye forgot (I didn't), the movie version of The Pirates of Penzance with Kevin Kline, Rex Smith, Angela Lansbury and Linda Ronstadt is on DVD at last!
Ready... set... Pimp Your Stuff!

If you're in the Chicago area, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, or Da UP and not doing anything this weekend, consider coming to Dellacon- a relaxacon being held at the lovely Chula Vista Resort (complete with water park! )http://www.dellacon. There will be nummy food, gaming, and hanging out with a fun crowd. The hotel has agreed to keep our reservation rate/block available until they are sold out. While the hotel rates may look high on first glance, bear in mind that many of these are essentially multi-bed apartments, so it's quite a deal. Gone are the days where you squeeze ten people into a crowded hotel room and no one sleeps on the floor! I'll be running Con Suite, and the menu for the weekend can be found at http://tinyurl.com/24umuv7

Dreamwidth has an open invite going until the end of the month:

https://www.dreamwidth.org/create?code=VOX

DW was started by two former Livejournal folk who decided they wanted something like LJ only actually run by and for the community, not for ad bucks... and it is win and pie. You can crosspost back into LJ, and they're working on code to crosspost into Wordpress, Tumblr, and a whole bunch of other stuff...

That, and every time I see a post to [livejournal.com profile] news all's I see is b*tch, whine, complain, ur doin' it rong (and it's because they are, not because LJ has a scut userbase)... but whenever I see a Image (http://dw-news.dreamwidth.org/profile)dw_news (http://dw-news.dreamwidth.org/) post? It's all "YAY! thank you!" with maybe a little "oops, wee problem here" followed closely by "oh, sorry, fixed it!" filled in... the difference is... refreshing to say the least.

Frankly, I think they're worth bucks (and have a paid account), but if bucks you don't have? Make with the clicky.

(FWIW? a number of filkers are already over there, including our jolly host here!)

*sigh* maybe I will someday not have to work the weekend and can hit cons again. This one is only 4 hours from here. But I cannot get off at 9am friday, hit Austin(3 hour total), drive to Dallas, visit con, drive home and work 9pm Saturday. My back would disown me.

I hope everyone has a great time. Maybe next year I can go.

and

Both of which are now full "studio" versions with full orchestration 5 part harmony and stuff like that.

Some TV I've been enjoying, or will be enjoying.
For those of you watch TV from internet sources, The Doctor Who Proms 2010 was on BBC-TV a little while ago. Great music show from Royal Albert Hall featuring the music of Murray Gold, plus a couple of classical pieces, mixed with DW video and a visit from The Doctor. Also from the BBC, the other Saturday tea-time series, Merlin, has started Series 3.
Meanwhile, in Canada, and near-border areas of the US, Being Erica returns for it's Season 3 this coming Tuesday, Sept 21, on CBC, locally channel 9, Windsor. Also on Soapnet in the US and eventually in England.
I'll let you all make with the Google, wikipedia and other searches to find out more.
Did anyone else catch Merlin in the past 2 years?

-Tim

Two things:

First, the new episode of Arpeggio (http://www.arpeggiothecomic.com/) is up! This is the webcomic where the main character is loosely based on a young [livejournal.com profile] s00j... and things are starting to get wild.

Second, [livejournal.com profile] satyrblade, aka Phil Brucato, the creator of Mage the Ascension and Sorcerer's Crusade, has a new project in the works! Powerchords is going to be an urban fantasy RPG supplement (open system so you can plug in your favorite rules) based around Music and Magic. BUT it's only going to happen if we get it fully funded. We're almost halfway there, and our backers will all get Cool Stuff(tm) for believing in us, starting with a new piece of flash fiction written by Brucato each week exclusively for the backers and going up through copies of the finished product, "I'm With the Band" t-shirts, the right to name bands in the book, and more! You can find the project here (http://kck.st/bLYYOg) out at Kickstarter.com.

Well, dang it. Hubby and I are back on the road to San Antonio.

Last week it was 'cause brother-in-law was in a motorcycle accident and was on sedation and a series of tubes. This week it's 'cause they've been able to take him off several of those things and he's occasionally conscious and talking.
