Musings Of The Day
Oct. 18th, 2010 11:04 amWhen I got up this morning -- at 4:30, way too early dammit -- it was 48°. Right now, it's a balmy 50°. Later this week we're supposed to get down to freezing.
I blame Persephone.
No, wait, that's blaming the victim. It's all Hades. "Want a ride in my shiny black chariot, Persephone?" "How about some fresh fruit, Persephone? Lotsa antioxidants, Persephone."
Meanwhile, over at sellout.woot.com, they've got a 2 TB external HD for $99.99. And someone is actually wondering who might need this much hard drive space. I wish to show them my library of music recording projects, and the multiple drives upon which they are backed up. Not to mention anyone who's got digital copies of movies. The legal variety, even. Or records for a business. Or a medical facility. Or who just does a lot of TiVo.
(sellout.woot.com also linked me up to two zombie survival posters, here and here.)

New FuMP Song: "Zombie-And-B"
Oct. 1st, 2010 07:11 amThis one's definitely gonna get remixed. Time pressure was on me, and the music's good but not as good as I'd like, and I'm wrestling with both new hardware (the sound in my motherboard) and software (Reaper). Still, I like it, and think some harmonies and sound effects will add nicely to it.
On that hardware note, can anyone help me figure out how to make a stupid X-Fi XtremeGamer card work with XP SP3? It used to, dammit, but I've had it for awhile, and it might have been easier to grandfather in from SP2 and I didn't realize it. As it is, I can't get it to work, and I just did a full re-install, thank you, and don't feel like repeating the experience.

Pimp Your Stuff Thursday
Sep. 16th, 2010 07:32 am- This weekend is FenCon in north Dallas, TX. I'm on the schedule for a panel at Friday noon. Sorry, but I will not be at that panel -- I'll still be on the road (it's a long haul). I should make my 5:00 p.m., and my concerts are Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday at noon. On the other hand, Jeff and Maya Bonhoff, Marc Gunn, Margaret Middleton, the Bedlam Bards, and various others should keep you entertained in the meantime. ;)
- Matt Duhan from Gozer Games has a new game he's trying to get crowdfunded: Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, and Fairies. Art by Phil Foglio and R. K. Milholland. (He's also whipping up a promo video for his previous epic, Zombie Ninja Pirates, and he's specifically using "Trans Poly U Fight Song" and "Pirate Ninjas From Dino Island" for that one, so I'll let you know when it's released into the wild.)
seanan_mcguire is still accepting pre-orders for her new album Wicked Girls.- DJ Boffles has a show on New Eden Radio (for all your EVE Online internet radio needs). This Sunday at 16:00 GMT (noon EDT, methinks), they'll be broadcasting a special Talk Like A Pirate Day edition, and I know for a fact they'll play my song because they e-mailed and asked if they could.
- ARRR! Sunday be International Talk Like A Pirate Day! My set list for the Sunday noon concert suddenly be all too clear, ARRR!
- In case ye forgot (I didn't), the movie version of The Pirates of Penzance
with Kevin Kline, Rex Smith, Angela Lansbury and Linda Ronstadt is on DVD at last!
For the past twenty-five minutes, I have owned PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies.
Or, should I say, it has pwn3d me.
It's not officially released until tomorrow, but if you sign up for the mailing list on the link above, you just might get the pre-release e-mail, with 10% off.
Talk about anything, as long as it's plants or zombies.

ETA: Don't forget that next Friday is BLITEOTWD08.
You are in a mall when the zombies attack. You have:Weapon can be real or fictional, you may assume endless ammo if applicable. Person can be real or fictional.
- one weapon.
- one song blasting on the speakers.
- one famous person to fight alongside you.
- My preferred weapon in FPS is the rocket launcher, but... for zombies, I think a nice chain gun or other "portable" submachine gun. Shred them suckers.
- "Bodies" by Drowning Pool or "The Game" by Motorhead.
- Snake Plisskin or Mal Reynolds.
