I admit I'm very curious as to how Bill O'Reilly and Stephen Colbert get along so well, when Colbert destroys him so easily.

Colbert knows he's a comedian. O'Reilly doesn't realize he is.

In the MMORPG City of Villains, I have a character who summons demons. I named a minor demon "Billo the Clown". Now if I can just get that demon to say, "Tides, how do they work?"

And on a completely unrelated note for anyone who attended DucKon in recent years. The convention moved to the Hyatt Regency in Schamburg. The previous hotel, Holiday Inn Express Naperville, closed down recently. So it looks like we switched hotels just in time. Still much sadness over the lost. My first time at DucKon, I attended my first filk concert there which was also the first I heard any Tom Smith songs. I had so much fun I bought the "Adventures in Thyme and Spice" cookbook for the filk fund. Good times. Good times.

Interesting that they closed down. I'm not really in the loop so I didn't know. The original reason for the move is that the hotel's parent company nullified the contract just before signing, because they didn't want any contracts signed in prime wedding season (June) without a guarantee of a ridiculous amount of catering business, can't remember the number but it was > $50,000 for the weekend. Apparently this kind of thing is becoming common.

I don't know the details either, but I've heard different things. I do know the decision was in the best interest of the convention, even before I discovered the old hotel was closed.

I think the parent company made a foolish decision. IMHO the hotel was more oriented for business travelers and not vacationers. I have seen wedding parties there before but if I ever get married I would have picked a more elegant hotel. The HIE was good, solid, reliable but a little plain. In tough economic times, a company should be more focused on surviving and not making lots of profit.

Fortunately the new hotel just has a bar and no restaurant so no catering. Joe's Crab Shack and Woodfield Mall are nearby, but the traffic is a pain.

It's easy for BillO, I guess, because he's not real, and so his persona being destroyed is no big deal for him.

Colbert knows how the Conservatives think, it's what he bases his humor on. O'Rly Cannot easily grasp any other point of view, but knows being mocked is part of his territory. And we all know that Colbert's humor is not spiteful or hateful - it's mostly in good fun.

(in fact I still know a few conservatives who don't understand why so many people laugh at the things Colbert says)

Because unlike Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly doesn't actually BELIEVE what he says, he just says it because he gets PAID to!
