  • This weekend -- right now, in fact -- is CapriCon in Wheeling, IL. John Scalzi, a performance of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Semi-Feral Mercy ([personal profile] tollers, [profile] harperjen, and [personal profile] sweetmusic_27), [profile] lukeski, a bunch of other nice and talented folks. I'm usually there, and I hope to get back next year.
  • A couple of good folks are doing crowdfunded projects. There's Drew Bates and his attempt to get a really, really animated short of Redneck Ninjas (you'll recall I wrote the music for this one, and if it goes anywhere I'll write more).
  • Our friend from Girl Genius, Cheyenne Wright, is trying to fund Machination: A Game Of Evil Genius.
  • If you haven't seen this already, pmG is dong a pull-out-all-the-stops sale on its high-end 3D modelling and animation software... as in, $10 (or $40 for the big-ass pro version) as opposed to $499 (or $1195). Prices only last until their target is hit, you don't get the software until the target is hit, and if they don't reach the target everyone gets a refund. Meantime, you can download a demo.
Ready... set... Pimp Your Stuff!

Shiny!

I've started a new blog and twitter feed for S.J. Adams, the "open pen name" I'm using for a book next year. The idea is that S.J. is a member of the staff that I pretended to have for The Smart Aleck's Guide to American History (http://www.smartalecksguide.com), and the twitter and blog will be a fun way to make fun of myself.

S.J. Adams Blog (http://sjadamsbooks.blogspot.com)
Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/SJAdamsBooks)

"SJ"'s book, Sparks, is the John Hughes-esque story of a Full House-obsessed girl who gets over a crush on her best friend by emarking on a "holy quest" with a couple of misfits who have invented their own religion. Originally titled DEBBIE DOES DETENTION, I'll be out early next year via Flux Books.

If you're into crowdfunding, could you have a look at my latest LJ post (http://orangemike.livejournal.com/49696.html) and maybe pass the word on to a couple of sets of ears?

I can't do much, but I WILL bookmark this, and mention it on my next podcast, if you don't mind. I don't have many listeners (As the cast has just started this week), but if any of them can pass it along, I'll hope they can.

For the first time, I'm pimping my OWN stuff.

I now have a podcast. It is just me talking, and breaking up the talk with some music segments...podcast 01 was VERY rough..as in, the audio is much quieter than the music I use. I learned quickly, however, and went from a Guitar Hero microphone to a ClearChat headset. That helped a lot.

The music I use is podsafe...I've either gotten permission from the artists involved, or have gone off of The FuMP (and am trying to get listed as a Podcaster there). Episodes 02 and 03 are up.

Structure and format will come at some point. And advice is greatly and genuinely appreciated.

Address is http://www.crysthewolf.com/wanderingfalcon

Will plan on putting Orangemike's plea into the next cast...and if anyone has ads for other podcasts, or people I should ask about ads, or music, please let me know.

Thanks. I have to admit, podcasting is a LOT of fun for me. :-)

Crystal Wolf's debut CD Kickstarter thingy

So Chris says, "You should pimp the kickstarter again" so I'm doin' the thing again. ;)

For anyone who didn't see before I'm working on a CD! And to record that CD I need funding that I don't have myself. ;) So I started a kickstarter project! It's fairly small and the minimum goal is the minimum amount I'd need to purchase a few small bits of recording equipment and buy a first batch of CD's to beg people to buy - er - I mean - sell. ;)

AAAAAND we're at over 50% of our goal, which is REALLY REALLY COOL given that I'm flying by the seat of my pants here. =D SO! The kickstarter project (wherein one can make a pledge that won't actually be collected upon until April) is here: http://kck.st/hiTV0B , there are some rough tracks of songs that will go on the album here: http://crystalwolf.bandcamp.com , the title track, "How To Be A Superhero" is available for listening here: http://crystalwolf.bandcamp.com/track/how-to-be-a-superhero-single (listen for free, three quarters for an MP3 of your very own) and a blog that talks more about more stuff here: http://www.crysthewolf.com .

Also, Chris's podcast is very cool and everyone should give it a listen. But he already pimped that. ;)

Thanks for bein' awesome! Take care 'a you, lata!
