The weather forecast said up to eight inches north of 8 Mile Road in Oakland and Macomb counties, some distance from here; Ann Arbor was supposed to get one to three inches, plus a bit of freezing rain that would ice up in the wee hours.

Surprise.

6-1/2" on the ground already, and this is supposed to continue until Rush Hour tomorrow. The radar looks like an Easter poster -- really, such lovely pastels all over the place. Oh, and we will get the freezing rain.

I'm stayin' riiiiiiiight here.

How's the weather where you are?

So far, so good. Of course, the prediction has moved from a dusting up to 1" to 1"-3" overnight tonight. Sounds familiar, eh? (I expect there to be over half a foot when I have to slog out to work, getting in at midnight Monday into Tuesday.

At least tomorrow's a holiday, so alt-side rules are suspended. Small mercies :-)

Stay safe and warm! We're having a clear day right now, but it's just a break in rain that has been turning into quite a lot of snow up at the higher elevations. These storms have been slowing and shutting down the the interstates on the passes over the Sierra, in spite of how they really put some effort into keeping those stretches plowed open for the trucks.

There is going to be a foot and a half of snow, here in Minnesota. It is coming down so hard right now that, although Louie and I needed me to go to a nearby store (probably Target) to buy kitty litter, our cats will have to wait. And then tomorrow, if the snow has stopped, I estimate half an hour of shoveling to get my car off the street (i.e. in transit to another destination) and then Louie and I have a very wide driveway/parking lot out back, through which her car will need to maneuver to get her out to the street to deal with her clients. This looks just plain impossible, but we will manage somehow.

Snowing, -4C, and all that green space we gained from that big melt earlier in the week is gone, baby, gone. Also, we're under a winter storm warning for later in the evening. I doubt it's going to be a real Snowpocalypse, but we're probably looking at some pretty heavy blowing snow, particularly out in the boonies where there's nothing to slow the wind down. Fortunately, tomorrow is a statutory holiday.

60 mph wind gusts yesterday, though, which was rather surprising.

It was wicked cold this morning - frost all over the motybike, which was parked outside at a friend's, but severe clear. Currently 41 and high cirrus. Calling for snow Tue-Wed but I call bullshit... not until I see what Cliff Mass has to say anyway. That'll be tomorrow.

Virginia is doing fine weatherwise, right now but the storm is headed our way. Rain and wintry mix tonight, rain tomorrow, wintry mix tomorrow night through Tuesday, then warming up, but rain again on Thursday. I think that'll put paid to the last of the current snow mounds in our neighborhood. But I know better than to celebrate yet... our worst weather usually happens in March.

I just shoveled at least 6 inches of snow off the sidewalk (and where is the snow-removal crew I hired, I would like to know!). It's still coming down.

So far today, overcast, some drizzle. for tomorrow (Monday) NWS says: "Rain showers before noon, then rain and snow showers likely. Some thunder is also possible. Temperature falling to around 43 by 5pm." They add "no significant snow accumulation." Well, if the temp's staying above 35, of course not!!

Right now?

Overcast and 53 degrees.

But I've seen the radar. If that storm moves south a little bit, it's going to be ugly for the DC metro area in terms of snow and sleet, and we'll lose 20-25 degrees.

60s and sunny the past few days. Should rain later today. Even this far south (TN), that's a tad warm for Feb. That's after we've had one of the snowiest winters we've seen in many years. Granted, it isn't much snow by MI standards.

I actually live in Wyoming, which is a city just SW of Grand Rapids. GR got between 5-7" in different parts of the city, and we got 5. I went out this morning and shoveled off the steps, and ran my car up and down the driveway so Dad's health care providers could get to us. It's not too bad. We had snow, then it warmed up just slightly and we had rain, then it got cold again, and the rain froze. We're having a lull right now, but later we're supposed to get another 1-2 inches.

As much as I might complain about taking care of the folks (and it gets more challenging every day) it's days like this that I'm glad I don't have to drive to work somewhere, lol. Been there, done that, glad I don't have to do it anymore.

we never really got the freezing rain we were promised, and I can live with that disappointment. But the light snow we were supposed to get all weekend fell all at once overnight, as did an additional foot, with another foot of drifting between our house and our shared-driveway-neighbor. The driveway is pretty much done, just some touch-up left to do before the Big Chill tomorrow, and we have a foot-and-a-half to clear off the cars (and then off the driveway again) and we are done. Good thing today is a holiday up here!

Some of the cruddiest weather. First rain that melted almost the last of the snow from the snowpocolypes a couple weeks ago, then as everything is wet it started to sleet and ice up, then snow on top of that (the heavy wet stuff), and back to some rain then temps dropping to turn it all back into a thick 2"+ of pure ice. Shoveling was just chopping ice forever. Now tonight more snow on top of that.

I dodged the snow bullet today. Was supposed to get 1-2 inches overnight and another 2-4 during the day. With it being a holiday and school vacation, plows were not supposed to out until after all the snow stopped. Instead, we got 1 inch overnight, maybe another inch during the day, but it all stopped before lunchtime and was gone by when I had to drive home. No idea of Boston or south of the city got any harder, but north of Boston got off easy this time.
