Pray Away The Gay?

You'll like this one. Presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann (R-Crazy Train) is married to a man who runs a clinic which uses religion to try and cure people of being gay. I'm not gonna bother to summarize -- just read it, and especially at least see the video of Whoopi Goldberg on The View. It's all fascinating and damn disturbing.

Anthony Perkins went to one of those places, back in the day. Before he died, he talked openly about how it was one of the most hateful and passive-aggressive places he'd ever been. He left feeling utterly worthless about himself, and feeling even more like he needed to hide parts of himself from everybody. And this is a man who worked in Hollywood for decades, so he knew from passive-aggressive.

I'd already been reading about this on the Dan Savage, savage love blog. Pretty revolting. And darn couldn't watch the whoppi clip it's already been yanked down. Poo, wanted to see her go off on the subject!

And Mr. Bachman's credentials have been called into question. There's a bit of a math discrepancy between his 'Ph.D' status from the school he claims and how long he's been 'practicing.' That school has only offered a PhD program since about 2001, but he's been 'practicing' for a lot longer, or so he claims. One of these items is true. Guess where my money is?

Also, does anyone's else gaydar go NUCLEAR when you see this man or is it just me?
