I am laughing my ass off over here, over this IGN video showing the motion capture performer for Harley Quinn in the upcoming Batman: Arkham City video game. And the comments on the YouTube page.

Any good, funny vid you've seen lately? Link 'em up.

Saw this with your usual icon over on DW. I'm thinking, "am I the only one..."

LOL'ed at Mr. Takei. "NO!" Troll or not, *FUNNY*...

I have many fewer icons at DW. Their system is fussy.

Yeah, I did. I kinda made a Deal. (No, not that kind! The devil don't make deals at crossroads, that's just a rumor he started to make us think we can get somewhere without doing it the hard way (http://www.christopherbingham.com/crossroads.html).) I get Enough And Some To Share, I hafta Share.

But damn, it's fun!

(picotranslation: You're welcome!)

The video is kind of funny. The comments, on the other hand, I found mostly depressing, given the overwhelming amount of kneejerk homophobia and sexism, not to mention some latent racism sprinkled in.

There is indeed a rather large hunk of that, but fortunately there are also quite a few comments decrying that, as well as a bunch of wryly amused facepalms.

I don't bother reading comments anymore, except on John Scalzi's blog... there are documentably more of us than there are of them (otherwise we wouldn't have the president we have), but they seem to smell this stuff, like flies... and I don't know how to change that. I know (finally!) how to *make it irrelevant*, but to actually change it? I think is quite simply going to require dead people. Preferably by natural causes, i.e. just hang on and wait for'em to die off... I don't wanna take the path where it's otherwise.

Aw, those poor hysterical het fanboys. Now they can only slobber and wank legit over 98.99% of the women in Marvel/DC comic book franchises.

OTOH, thumbs up for the gay kids in red-state country whose parents haven't figured out YouTube yet, who can now quietly grin every time Harley shows up in the game.

Have you seen the anime Tiger & Bunny (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_%26_Bunny)? Really well-done comedy-adventure-drama-etc. about a team of corporate-sponsored superheroes -- as in, f'rinstance, Blue Rose wears the Pepsi NEX logo, Barnaby Brooks, Jr. (the Bunny of the title) has Amazon.co.jp on his chest, etc. One of the heroes, Fire Emblem (with, hey, fire generation and control powers), is particularly excellent: He's a very nice guy, cares about the other heroes... and he's an exaggeratedly effeminate cross-dresser, on the level of Roger DeBris from The Producers. Anne and I speculate that someone in one of the early story sessions just took the phrase "flaming queen" and ran with it. We call him Fire Island.

Vaguely heard of it. Not surprised it's anime; there's a ton of good gay anime/manga out there. But good luck finding it in comic shops that have no problem displaying the near-porn Marvel/DC covers (that Catwoman one, jeez) but don't carry "adult" (gay-themed) stuff.

Honestly, I find the best place for new anime is Anime Freak (http://www.animefreak.tv/).

I put a vid up in the previous threat to try and raise everyone's spirit. I'm work otherwise I'd repost it here. It's the speech Charlie Chaplin gave at the end of the one movie where he mocks Hitler.

I'm not sure if you've already seen it or not. This commercial has been making the rounds this week.
