My friend and I are finishing on our latest round of playing Book Fairy. I pick out some kids, coworker's children or neighbors, then send her a budget and a list of the kid's interests. She searches through the bookstore where she works and selects the books. Then she ships them either to me or directly to the children. It's great fun! I'm not likely to fund the wing of a library, but anyone can pick out a few used books for a neighbor kid.

I got a Bernina embroidery machine. I have a scanner.

I don't post often, but I haven't posted much in the last few months because our apartment complex changed their rules, and they no longer allow large dogs, so we've been hunting frantically for a place that will take a Boxer/Sharpei mix and a German Shephard/Something with a fat head. We finally found a place, and then never heard back from the managers.
And we found out why; they quit without notice, packed up, and left, with all our paperwork in the closet in their office.

I also found out last week that everyone in my group (18 people) is getting laid off as of this Friday.

So, I've been packing, trying to get my new place set up so we can move (finally heard back and started moving yesterday), looking for a new job, and dealing with our freaked out dogs and freaked out cats.

Well, I've posted recently but I will check in anyway. I'm still kicking, my wife is still laid up but is getting around better with a realignment of her pain meds, and is hopefully finally giving her body the chance to heal. We also have new little ones, she found someone giving away kittens free to a good home, and was planning on taking one but could not bear to separate the siblings so I was met with three kittens after work last week. Now I can't sit down without multiple animals piling up to listen to the ticking of my heart. And the filk CD I am replaying endlessly in my car right now is Tom Smith's Digital Acoustic Compilation.

Still alive. Still pregnant. 27 weeks today, which means I've entered the third trimester. Which is unreal. Due Christmas Day, which will make Orycon interesting. For values of interesting which = exhausting.

Have fun with my husband at OVFF. I've never been so glad not to go to a con, as there's no way I could manage the travel.

Just a thought: a lot of people I follow on LiveJournal have moved on to either FaceBook or Google-Plus and no longer post here. So that could be the reason for their silence: they are still active but not here.

I know I post often, but just wanted to check in. I'm OK but my cat, Sarge, isn't so good. He hasn't been eating much these past few weeks even with medicine (when I can get him to take it). His weight is dropping dangerously low and I'm really scared. He's acting pretty normal except he won't eat the food that's in front of him. Oh he'll ask but he won't eat it. This week I'm going to have more tests done to see just what the problem is. I'd swear by the FSM he was eating better but I took him to the vet for a quick weigh-in and he LOST 5 oz in a week! It's not knowing that's scaring me, that and worrying he'll pass on before we can get him help.

Alverant--Have you had him x-rayed? These symptoms sound a lot like a cat who has swallowed some kind of foreign object. We lost one earlier this year that had just eaten string while we weren't looking.

It is essential to do this as fast as possible, if it hasn't been eliminated as a possibility, because it can lead to rupture and death without any further warning.

Things are pretty much just going this week. Tuesday I have to go to my psychiatrist to pick up paperwork for my SSI lawyer. After that I start seeing a therapist Thursday.

Hopefully things will start going my way with the SSI hearing coming up. At least this time I have a lawyer to help me with the process.
