Except for the joys of Chicago traffic, I had a very good time at To Be Continued, and I want to thank John Gilchrist, Rich Lukes, and especially con chair Bob Palmer for their hospitality and kindness.

It was also cool meeting Dean Haglund and Stephen Austin, and once again worshipping the exquisite Virginia Hey, and seeing Larry Smith and Sally Kobee and Ray Van Tilburg, however briefly, and of course hanging out with Kim Williams and her adorable granddaughter Jeneil, [livejournal.com profile] tigertoy, Jan of the Magic Fingers, Art Warneke (lotsa funny stuff), and of course Filk GOH Steve MacDonald.

My set on Saturday went pretty well, and at the "Can Filk Coexist With Dementia?" panel on Sunday (consensus: oh, sure, why not), I debuted preliminary recordings of two of the songs from The 24 Hour Project 2. Good reaction. The Saturday night filk was great, with one of those classic moments that those lucky enough to be there for will talk about for awhile:

[livejournal.com profile] lukeski did a damn near 15-minute piece called "Grease Wars", which is exactly what you fear it might be -- a retelling of Star Wars Episode 4 to the soundtrack of the movie Grease. Just as he was starting, three guys sauntered in -- dressed as an Tie Fighter pilot, an Imperial Stormtrooper, and Jango Fett. And they got into it -- as in, when Luke was lyrically describing Imperial atrocities, they gave each other thumbs-up; when Luke sang "Oh-whoah, those Je-eh-di Knights", they started dancing like the Pips ("Well-ah, well-ah, well-ah, HUH"). The medley is a hoot, and the guys in costume sent it way over the top, and it was a beautiful thing.

Next up: The big 'un. MarCon.

Well, you've got a couple of weeks to sit back and relax a little bit. Or at least try to relax a little bit.

Good luck, and I'll see you at the end of that relaxing!

Highly vague, as in, we haven't talked about it much. It might be easier to do it Friday at the release party.

A WWE moment...

Consider doing an insta-filk of Episode Three to the tunes and themes of WEST SIDE STORY. Just saying.

I almost saw a copy of it today, but then my brother needed to go to bed so we had to end the recording session. :) I should have the fully sound-effected & background-vocalled instrumental track ready for MarCon, so be at Tom's room party to see it, dangit!

We're not going to make it to Marcon, unfortunately, but maybe we'll get to see it at OVFF... (Will it be on your next album, BTW?)
