Jiggety Jig
Oct. 2nd, 2005 09:51 pmGood fun at Archon -- thanks to Michelle, Les, and everyone else. Especially thanks to all the cool folks at the open filk last night.
Eight and a half hours each way. Fortunately, most of the driving was very pleasant (not counting the occasional dipshit who needs to tailgate at 85 mph).
From about the Michigan state line to I-94 thirty-eight miles later, I watched a thunderstorm brewing behind the overcast. Flashes every two or three seconds, lighting up the whole sky. The rain held off until I was within a mile of the exit, and then I outran it. It should be here by midnight, but I'm inside now. :)
So how's the weather where you are?

Date: 2005-10-03 03:06 am (UTC)A bit more humid than we've had of late, but it's finally starting to actually FEEL like fall in SW Ohio.
Glad to hear you stayed ahead of the storm.

Date: 2005-10-03 03:44 am (UTC)and if you think i'm whiny NOW, wait a few months for me to start snarking at all these thin-blooded whiners complaining about the "cold." i live in kentucky. i was raised in upstate new york. kentucky, as far as i've seen in the years i've lived here, does not know COLD as we northerners know it. the city shut down last christmas beacause of about a foot of snow, and i was out the next day in my tiny chevy coupe zipping all around town without a single slip or slide as slack-jawed yokels decided i was crazy.
the weather's tolerable. the attitudes of my neighbors, less so.

Date: 2005-10-03 07:59 am (UTC)I grew up (once my father finally stopped Base hopping) down in NW Florida. They'd close the schools if the snow stuck at all (about 1-2 days a year, if that) because they were scared all the the bridges in the area were icing. I always found this funny because before that I was in Germany and I saw snow up to the second story balcony and I still had to walk to Kindergarden!

Date: 2005-10-03 04:31 am (UTC)On the way home, I could see more thunderstorms for a while, and drove through a few more on the way back to Naperville, IL. Fun fun! Just got home a while ago, and I'm having an out of bodice experience while listening to Dr. Demento. :)

Date: 2005-10-03 05:22 am (UTC)Weather like this is why I moved here. I despise Winter, with all my heart, soul, and frozen fingers.
Saw the BDM of course - am in mourning. But it was one helluva ride.
