Hello? Am I Home?
Mar. 8th, 2006 07:01 amIs anyone else having trouble getting to my main page? I can FTP, but I can't seem to raise it on the web. No, I'm not trying to generate hits -- I geniunely can't get to the stupid page. Not in Firefox, not in IE, not in Opera.
Update: Okay, this is getting weird. All of you can get it, but I can't...? It doesn't seem to matter which browser I use, the firewall's properly configured, Adblock can be disabled or not...?
Dubya. Tee. Eff.
Update 2: Okay, obviously something is deeply wrong on my end. Fine. I was gonna begin the annual back-up in anticipation of the annual system purge (x2, now with laptop!) and I'll either nail this or just start over. (Have to try the laptop on this connection, and see if it's the connection or the desktop config....) Thanks, all.
Update 3: It's something on this machine. The laptop, using the WiFi, gets through just fine. (Although something's screwed up with Firefox on that one, so I'm gonna reinstall it anyway.) Time to go digging through the firewall config....
Update 4: Good news and bad news. I think I nailed it -- it's a plug-in, specifically the Adblock Filterset G that nukes a lot of Flash-based ads. The newest version, both on the desktop and the laptop, also nukes TSO. The problem is that I can't seem to uninstall or reconfigure it. I'll have to go digging, and right now I have errands to run, so it waits until this afternoon. Sigh. Friggin' tech.
