A Wish For Peace

I don't even begin to claim to understand the greivances on all sides -- on any sides. I know only three things:

• The issues have existed for a damn long time.
• They are not going to go away.
• There will only be peace if they want peace.

I fervently hope there will be a cease-fire soon. In the meantime, all of our friends in that part of the world: Please be careful.

People raised in a culture of endless hatred and violence, afraid of what would happen if they gave one or both of these things up. Classic issue of folks afraid to change. Unfortunately, continuation of this pattern is only going to result in perpetual war. I hope it ends, peacefully, and soon.
