Oh wait, my mind is disintegrating. I was about to order one for Jeff for xmas, but then my sister was desperate for ideas for Jeff gifts, so she got it instead. :-)

Can't wait until Jeff opens his present so I can enjoy it!

I'm pretty sure I'm getting it for Xmas, so unfortunately I cannot indulge in the Serenity goodness just yet. :-)

Got it yesterday. Whatched with commentary track on. Mostly good, but a little TMI when it comes to camera lenses.

Almost bought it yesterday at Sams, but my sister talked me out of it because (according to a friend of hers that works at a local video duplication plant) apparently Sams and Wallyworld get all the defective copies.

Not to mention Sams Club is part of Wal*Mart, which might have one or two problems in its business dealings (http://www.intellectualpoison.com/WalMartisPureEvil.html).

Scott picked our copy up last night on his way home. I can't wait to watch it tonight! (We ran out of time last night.) I've been hearing about the movie for what seems like forever, so the waiting has been hard.

::sighs:: I miss being able to watch big screen movies. Ah, well... I suppose the migraines save us from having to find a babysitter in order to go out and see them. Scott goes, and I wait for the DVD.

Picked mine up yesterday, in an odd 2pack. Wal-mart had Serenity in widescreen for $14.96, or bundled together with the widescreen of Ang Lee's "The Incredible Hulk" for....$14.96. I never actually got around to seeing Hulk backwhen, and figured that for the price (free), I'd give it a whirl.

I happen to like Hulk. Yeah, it's got problems, and, yeah, Jennifer Connelly should've had something to eat first... but (and this is admittedly two-thirds of the way through the movie) when Ol' Jade-Jaws cuts loose in broad daylight at last, in that desert sequence... damn that's the Hulk.

Yeah, a lot of people hated Hulk, but then again, a lot of people hated The Fantastic Four, a move I adored, so it may be that what others want from a comic book movie and what I want are very different things. :)

Haven't bought FF yet. I may not for awhile. I liked it, except those tedious parts peppered throughout the movie. You know... when that yuppie shmuck wannabe they laughingly tried to pass off as Victor Von Doom was onscreen. I liked Reed & Sue, though -- and I was fully prepared not to like either -- and was amazed at how well the Thing worked. The Torch was perfect.

I am waiting till after the holidays for when the week of family birthdays (including mine) occurs and seeing what happens... I have hinted about it slightly... (Along with the rest of the series, so I can finally see it beyond the one episode someone showed me when I asked about Firefly.)

As someone who has not seen the TV show except for one episode, I am looking forward to seeing it and enjoying both.

I am on the side of those who say you really should not see the movie until you've seen the series. Self-contained it may be, but I think the emotional impact is a gazillion times more intense with all the back-story.

Tom - I already am waiting to do that. I rather understand the movie better and have the longer wait. (Besides, if it doesn't turn up for the holidays, its likely to wait till after I get my new laptop next month.)

Theoretically, my copy is also on the way - my boss ordered it from Amazon for Christmas present to be delivered to the house. No sign of the mail man yet but I live in hope...

Now to hope that Santa got my list and brought me the Season 1 DVDs of Atlantis.

Picked ours up on the way to our weekly game night. $19.99 at FYE plus a $7 mail in rebate (and $10 off if we'd also bought Battlestar Galatica... just can't get into it). Watched all the extras after the game last night (including deleted scenes with and without commentary). I found the FruityOatyBar Easter egg right away... are there any others? I understand the Australian release has some extras the the U.S. release doesn't. The R. Tam Sessions and the theatrical trailers would have been nice. Hopefully, we'll be able to watch the actual movie tonight... and then watch it again with the commentary!

Got it last night

From: [personal profile] cheshyre
from Costco on my way home from work.
watched it with Whedon's commentary, since I didn't want to get sucked into the emotional roller-coaster right then (and I've seen it multiple times in the theaters plus read the scriptbook and novelization). Somewhat disappointing; I wanted more from Joss about the characters and world and story than about the lighting and technical hoo-hah. I'd love it if somebody could get the cast together for another commentary track, even just an unofficial one.

Watched many of the bonus features. Cut scenes were nice, but I can see why they all got cut. Bloopers were funny, particularly Mal's instructions on Haven, which we had to rewind and replay. Also nice, they provide captioning on the DVD extras -- most DVDs I've bought only have it for the feature.

PS: Easter egg location
