If you've seen Disney's Wreck-It Ralph (and, if not, WHY THE HECK NOT!? GO! NOW! IT'S WONDERFUL), you've also seen the short film Paperman. Bleeding Cool has a nice little feature on it, without any major spoilers (basically, it describes the premise, and the marvelous new technology they made it with).

In related news, Pixar's Brave is out on disk today. Who's getting it?

Long time since we had a DVD Day here, so let's get to it.

Marvel's Avengers is released today on DVD and Blu-Ray, including the neato spiffy keen Target version with Blu-Ray 3D and the soundtrack, and an extra making-of disk. Who's getting what version, and who (gasp) hasn't seen it yet!? (Be sure to see Iron Man, the Edward Norton Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger before you see the big payoff.)

Also just out today -- Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1. Looks most excellent.

And, to complete your superheroics, Target has Green Lantern: Emerald Knights for $5.00. If you haven't seen this compilation of GL Corps stories, including the wonderment of Mogo (guest-starring Rowdy Roddy Piper as Bolphunga) and the amazing fight scene in Laira's Tale, you need to. Oh, and, Nathan Fillion plays Hal Jordon. :D

What else is out on disk that we need to know about?

Great sadness. Actor Michael Clarke Duncan has passed away at the age of 54.

His breakout role was John Coffey, the gentle healer in The Green Mile. He did everything from Daredevil to Armageddon to Kung Fu Pandu to Green Lantern to Kim Possible. He frickin' rocked, and this is much too soon. Rest well, sir, and thank you.

Goodness me, how could I almost forget that!? If Harry actually existed, he'd be 32 today.

What are your favorite Potter fanfics or videos? Be not shy -- the shipping wars have no place here today. If you link to something that's Not Safe For Work, though, it would be good, so parents can keep an eye on their kids' browsing (or the kids can note something for when they're older).

My fanfic this time around is the grim, nasty Brutal Harry by LordsFire. This AU is not a story for kids, and very well might have some triggery abuse things, but it's very well done and utterly engrossing. Fair warning: The last chapter is very violent.

On the video side, something much lighter, by my fellow FuMPers Steve Goodie and Nuclear Bubble Wrap:

I didn't know it had been split into two movies. But I'm good with it.

Although we still don't know who's voicing The Joker.

Tomorrow, I take care of good ol' Garnet in Columbus, then spend most of the rest of the week working on music and Tom Smith Online, which has been sadly neglected for a couple of months now. There will also be watchings of episodes of The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, which is a pretty damn fine show.

And what's your week look like?

Again, great sadness. Disney Legend Ginny Tyler has passed away at the age of 86. She was an official storyteller at Disneyland; she was a stellar voice actress, doing everything from the singing of the animals in "Jolly Holiday" in Mary Poppins to Jan in Space Ghost to Polynesia the Parrot in the Rex Harrison Doctor Doolittle. She made the world happier, and she will be missed.

Courtesy of io9, a crowd pulse on SDCC's apparent winners and losers, and various and sundry cool sights.

Also, the trailer for Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful:

and an excellent kids' Iron Man costume collection with a very special guest star.

What projects over the next couple of years are you looking forward to? I, obviously, am champing at the bit for The Hobbit, the Marvel movies, and the Godzilla reboot.

ETA: Oh, and, the new Frankenweenie trailer:

At least, two minutes and fifteen seconds of it. I regret to tell you that (a) this just goes on and on and on and on, and (b) I kinda wish they'd made it, because it would be the most spectacular MST3K/Rifftrax party fodder.

What awful, awful animated TV shows do you remember fondly, or not-so-fondly? The animated Swamp Thing and Rambo still haunt my dreams, as do Groovie Ghoulies and most Hanna-Barbera mystery-solving-teen-team shows that didn't involve a Great Dane or a sputtering dune buggy. And Kimba the White Lion was just weird. But, even though Friz Freling recycled the same joke stolen from Knighty-Knight Bugs over and over again (where Yosemite Sam yelled, "WHOA, dragon!" and the dragon stopped and Sam rattled down the dragon's neck spines to land on his ass), Here Comes The Grump was four or five kinds of psychedelic awesome.

(Oh, and, while searching for video of Knighty Knight Bugs, I reacquainted myself with the wonderful Knight Mare Hare.)

Ren & Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi has teamed up with Stussy to create a line of T-shirts. Here's the commercial. (Warning: ... um... it's by John K., 'kay? If you don't know what's coming, maybe you just shouldn't click.)
