I still have a lot to do before tomorrow.

But a friend has apparently resolved a big dilemma that was making life way too interesting. I'll fill you in later, or not.

Also, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is everything they said it would be, everything I hoped it would be. Even at low res, it's gorgeous. (And when I figure out how to tweak the graphics card properly, yowzah.)

And... Garnet is back from the shop. A little dented in the back, although the driver's door is just fine. And it didn't cost quite as much as I feared, so I can at least get down to MidSouthCon this weekend.

Le sigh.

[livejournal.com profile] starcat_jewel posted this in [livejournal.com profile] filk, so I guess the advertising starts now. :)

I'm gonna be performing in Houston, TX next Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Oxford Hall. Ten bucks at the door, $8.00 with student ID, kids under 12 free. Door opens at 7:30, show starts at 8:00, probably two hour-long sets with intermission.

... finally nicked it from [livejournal.com profile] musicmutt:
  • Name a CD you own that you think no one else on your friends list does: I say without hesitation that I've got a freakin' stack of 'em, but the winner would have to be the original soundtrack for the Ed Wood-written movie Orgy of the Dead
  • Name a book you own that you think no one else on your friends list does: The Point Man by Steve Englehart
  • Name a Movie/DVD/VHS that you think no one else on your friends list has: The Return of Captain Invincible, starring Alan Arkin and Christopher Lee
  • Name a place that you have visited that you think no one else on your friends list has: Celebration, FL (okay, okay, it was by accident in the middle of the night, but still)
  • Name a tool/piece of technology that you think no one else on your friends list owns: a 10" brass shoehorn

I had a lovely time at ConFusion Saturday -- Heather Alexander, Steve Simmons, Mark Bernstein, Ida Briggs and the adorable Joey/Tiffany/William/Mark Pirate Show, many hugs from good folks I don't see enough of, and the best fannish dinner I've had in forever (starring Anne, Leslie, and Mitchell Burnside Clapp, with special guest stars Mary Bertke, Sarah Zettel, and Tim Smith).

*sigh* All good things must come to an end. Cut for whining.... )

Nicked from [livejournal.com profile] ericcoleman, who says he got it from a bunch of folks.

Subject to revision at any moment.... )

Good fun at Archon -- thanks to Michelle, Les, and everyone else. Especially thanks to all the cool folks at the open filk last night.

Eight and a half hours each way. Fortunately, most of the driving was very pleasant (not counting the occasional dipshit who needs to tailgate at 85 mph).

From about the Michigan state line to I-94 thirty-eight miles later, I watched a thunderstorm brewing behind the overcast. Flashes every two or three seconds, lighting up the whole sky. The rain held off until I was within a mile of the exit, and then I outran it. It should be here by midnight, but I'm inside now. :)

So how's the weather where you are?

Not dire, but dire enough. Water heater dripping substantially out of an apparently broken pipe cap, rug soaked through, standing water around heater, landlord on the way. Everything else on hold this evening.

Update: Looks like it'll eventually be all right. Overflow pipe cap, apparently. Me being utterly mechanically inept, the landlord figured out what to turn off. Now I've gotta Shop-Vac up some water, and the plumber should be by in the morning. Sigh.

NTodd, one of the regular commenters at Eschaton, also has a regular podcast, and for today's installment he interviewed me. :) It's pretty much Filk 101 for Mundanes, but we had fun.

Fifty-five gigs of data.

About six gigs of gaming files. Several more major downloads. And about forty gigs of arrangements, vocal tracks, sound effects, commissioned songs, and everything from The Last Hero On Earth.

And, as I am wont to do now and again, I took a chance and paid a hundred bucks for a program that said it could save my data.

And, so, now what...? )

And now a few on the flip side.... )
