Okay, what did y'all think?

Why strain myself looking for the perfect phrasing, when James Wolcott of Vanity Fair has already done it for me?

The Case Of The Hair-Triggered Han.

Got my Star Wars DVD set today. A few observations:

1. Damn. That's a beautiful transfer. (Although I seem to have some stuttering on the very first pan down from the opening letters to the surface of Tatooine.) Gorgeous, sharp, colorful, and yet the same, y'know?

2. The scene with Han and Greedo shooting almost simultaneously is even more insulting and stupid-looking than the straight-up "Greedo shoots first" scene.

3. On the other hand, they put back in "Close the blast doors!"

4. And I can't remember if they had this in the Special Edition, but it's nice having a scene with Luke finding Biggs just before they go off to battle the Death Star.

Most important observation so far, though, is the one made by David Prowse and Woody Harrison: Star Wars... is like pizza. When it's good, it's great. But, even when it's bad... it's still pizza.
